Wud Heritage Grant Scholarship
Thanks to a generous grant from Wud Canada, the Wooden Boat Centre Tasmania is offering the Wud Heritage Grant Scholarship to support a young woman from the Huon Valley to explore a pathway in wooden boatbuilding.
The 2025 scholarship (AU $11,000) covers tuition for an 8 to 12-week course in wooden boatbuilding, dinghy construction, or boat restoration. The aim is to provide a practical, supportive way to experience the trade and build future skills in Tasmania’s maritime heritage industry.
Eligibility
Woman, aged 18 years or older at the time of application
Resides within the Huon Valley Council area
Australian citizen or permanent resident
Be available for a continuous period of at least eight weeks before 31 of December 2026
Course Selection
The recipient can choose from the current selection of courses:
Full or partial funds towards participation in a dinghy build course
Full or partial funds towards dinghy restoration course
Partial funds towards the full year boatbuilding course
Funds towards a similar project or course as agreed upon with the participant and the Wooden Boat Centre Inc.

A motivational letter (500-800 words) describing your goals, what draws you to boatbuilding, and how this scholarship would help you achieve your goals, and how you hope to contribute to your community in the future.
