THREE DAY OAR AND PADDLE COURSE
Join us for a hands-on, immersive experience making oars or paddles. This three-day course delves into the time-honoured techniques used by boatbuilders, blending craftsmanship and nature’s finest materials.
Working with Tasmania’s finest timbers you learn the techniques of oar and paddle construction whilst making a set of your own.
You can choose from straight oars, a straight canoe paddle or bend (offset) canoe paddles with a variety of wood species.
We can also incorporate spar making for those interested. Please use the contact form below to inquire. The pricing for a spar cost is dependent on material costs.
The course runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with breaks to ensure a relaxed, enjoyable learning experience. Whether you're a beginner or have some woodworking experience, this course offers a perfect blend of tradition and technique. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with your very own hand crafted set of oars or paddle and an appreciation for Tasmania’s rich history of boat building.
