A class in knotwork with Barbara Frankel of Australis Knots.
Instruction on how to make an ocean plait mat (and a take home instruction sheet with references to useful online demonstrations) The course cost includes everything you need and at the end of the day you’ll take home this practical and functional handmade mat.

This is a single day course for up to six people, where you will experience the art of steam bending Tassie timber and go home with a crafted but functional net that you have made yourself.

Shipwright’s stool or small occasional table.
In a day, learn to turn an off-cut of specialty boatbuilding timber and green timber legs into a character-filled shipwright stool or occasional table. Either piece is simple and full of charm. You will have the opportunity to use greenwood mortice and tenon tools and wedges to lock the legs in place.

Kayak Greenland Paddle Course
Up the creek with no paddle?
In one day you will turn a timber blank made with a selection of Tasmanian and other specialty boat building timbers into a customised Greenland-style paddle for your kayak.
With guidance from our instructors, experience using workshop machinery including bandsaws, linishers, and power planes, as well as traditional hand tools like planes and spokeshaves.
At the end of the day you will walk away with a beautiful and functional paddle, and the satisfaction that you made it yourself.
Cost: $250 including tuition and materials.
