Clinker Dinghy Construction - Whitehall 14' - Dinghy Purchased - Fully Booked

This is the new design for The Wooden Boat Centre. Our student who is purchasing the boat has requested a ‘Whitehall 14’ . Due to the extra length of this dinghy, this course will run over 8 weeks. Students will learn clinker boat construction by building a rowing/sailing dinghy, from rare Tasmanian boatbuilding timbers.  

Course duration: Eight weeks

Tuition fee: $5,600 or $700 per week.

Students will learn clinker boat construction by building a rowing dinghy, from rare Tasmanian boatbuilding timbers.  This dinghy has been determined by the purchaser and will be a pram dinghy. This type of dinghy is easy to use by 1 person as a tender for a yacht or powerboat.

10' Stitch and Glue Plywood Car-topper ( CANCELLED )

Unfortunately, this course has been cancelled due to lack of numbers. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Students will learn the 'stitch and glue' technique whilst making a small motor powered vessel, for use in protected waters.  A lightweight boat that can be used as a utility or for fishing.

Double Plywood Canadian Canoe (FULL)

Students will build an 18' ply covered open canoe suitable for 2 people.  The canoe will have a painted finish internally and externally.  A lightweight design for calm water paddling, easy to transport as a car topper.  A good start out project for new wood workers and boatbuilders.

Ian Oughtred designed 'Puffin' Clinker Dinghy

Learn to build traditional wooden dinghies in the Clinker style whilst building an Ian Oughtred designed 'Puffin' sailing and rowing dinghy.  This dinghy is 10' in length and will be constructed of Huon Pine.

Tuition: $3,600
