TWB6: FIT-OUT: FURNITURE, TANKAGE,WIRING AND PLUMBING, DECK HARDWARE

Contact time: 275 hours

The interior fit-out includes bunks, galley, bench tops and lockers, dining table, seating, chart table, etc. It also includes making provision for sink(s), pump(s), marine toilet, ice box, holding tanks etc.

This subject addresses the provision for water and fuel tanks, and installing plumbing for them. It also includes provision for wiring to support 12-volt DC electrical equipment, and the construction of panels, boxes etc for that equipment. Similarly, provision for gas equipment (deck or cockpit boxes for gas bottles, provision for stove etc). However, qualified gas fitters and electricians will connect and commission these items of equipment: the student boatbuilder will learn how to prepare for those tradesment to carry out their work, and scheduling to enable access by these other tradesmen.

On-deck hardware such as stanchions, pushpit and pulpit (where required), winches, vents, rollers and fairleads etc are all installed as part of this module.
